Success

The hunt has finished! I have today taken a role with a web based consultancy called Hyperlink Interactive . I start work this coming Thursday which I am looking forward to in a sick kind of way.

I also had the pleasure of getting told off by a recruitment agent yesterday, not a nice experience. He wanted an immediate response on another job I was offered, but I was holding out for this opportunity which worked out well.

Yay.

The grass is always greener

So, am killing time before I have to leave for interviews. You think I'd be excited about it, but in actual fact I'm dreading actually having another job!

I much prefer unemployment, the hours are great, however the pay does sucks.

It's looking up

It seems I am back in favour. I currently have two interviews tomorrow, one with a university in the east end and the other with a private consultancy in the city.

Fingers crossed for a result, just when I was starting to enjoy being unemployed as well...

Not feeling special

One of my pet hates in regards using recruitment agents is the fact that when a job is actually made available approx 1,000,000 agents actually post the job.

It makes it hard to feel like you have a chance at all when 80 other agents have the same role.

A few things on the horizon

Have had some progress on the job front. My CV is being put forward to two companies, both process roles (which is what I enjoy), one in the east end of London, the other in the delightful 'city' of Milton Keynes.

Fingers crossed for some more interest from the company.

The job hunt

There seems to be a few more jobs around and about today, which is good, nice to see the peaks and troughs even out.

Roll on offers!

Arrivals

My good friends Pete and Anna arrived safely into the UK which is great.

Nice to have houseguests, and am looking forward to having them both around for a while.

Flickr and Blogger

I had a Flickr account (for my digital photos) and was unaware that I can link and write entries from this account to this blog, automatically.

Is there nothing the technology of the future cannot provide us with?

Infrastructure Issues

My IT infrastructure has been having some teathing problems, with mainly IP set-up issues, which (fingers crossed) seem to be solved now.

Life without the internet can get very annoying, especially when you are looking for a job. It has given me the opportunity to get out more, as the sun has been out as of late in the London spring.

I helped my friend Ben move into this new place in old street yesterday, which was very enjoyable, and on my journey home I was stoked to find it light at 7pm, excellent. Also checked out the Zills, at the steeles on haverstock hill. What a great venue and and a fabulous gig. The pub also happens to serve Thai, so managed to get some yummy treats as well.

My very good friends Pete and Anna are coming to London tomorrow which will be very exciting... and the job hunt continues.

Updating my IT infrastructure!!

I have finally got around to improving the internet at my flat, one of those things on the list that one finally has time to do when one is unemployed. I am now enjoying the delight of having true broadband, rather than 'dial up' ADSL before.. its the small things.

The job hunt continues, I have decided that searching for employment is a game of numbers. Where, as long as you get enough applications out, then you are bound to spot an opportunity at some stage.

Have been out tonight for dinner and a movie, on a double date. Tapas. Very enjoyable social food, and rather tasty as well. My pick of the night is the chocolate 'Bon' (read: choc ice cream with a choc coating, yum, yum, yum).

My use of Reason has declined, mainly due to the sound delay being experienced on the keyboard. Tends to frustrate me. I am going to try to fix this annoyance once I become interested again

A new way to pass the time

I have found the ultimate toy to use when unemployed and have installed Propellerhead Reason and am using a MIDI keyboard, very good fun playing around, which is all I seem to be able to do at present (No top 40 hits have been created thus far). Will report back with progress.

The sun has arrived.

London is an amusing city. When the sun finally arrives people come from nowhere and pack themselves into a park, that the day before consisted of a plastic bag and tumbleweed.

I shouldn't complain, at least Londoners have a smile on a sunny day.

Holidays...

Holidays are fun..

We have just returned from 4 weeks in NZ for a wedding, where we recieved the best kind of weather NZ has to offer, along with the pleasure of many good friends company.

When we returned to the UK we got over our jet lag in Morzine (French Alps), very beautiful place and even got some snowboarding in as well.

My theory on snow holidays is that you need to have at least 4 whole days at the mountain. The first day is spent on your bum, the next two are there so you can actually get the level you were when you last went, and the final day to actually pull some 'quasi' gnarly moves... great fun.

Nothing like a good holiday to relax you.

Although now I'm back the job hunt begins... but thats another entry....

Unemployed and loving it!

I am on the employment hunt. I am a contract Business Analyst and wanted to record the saga that is finding a new contract in London.

The perils of dodgy recruitment agents, phantom jobs and sitting around without tasks to fulfil... very exciting.

I am trying to develop my ability to be more like 'The Dude' during this time... you may call me "His dudeness".. without the Jelly sandels of course.
